BLM ESP Program

  Welcome to the BLM
Experienced Services Program (ESP)

Welcome to the official web site for the NEW Solutions/BLM Experienced Services Program (ESP). This partnership between the National Experienced Workforce Solutions and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) places experienced workers into positions supporting the BLM's multiple-use sustained yield mission.

The BLM ESP was authorized under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2018: Public Law 115-141, Section 115, the Department of the Interior (DOI) in 2018. That allowed BLM to establish a program for experienced workers 55 years and older, to complete priority conservation projects throughout the bureau on multiple-use public lands.

The ESP helps address the issue of “brain-drain” as experienced workers retire, and provides opportunities for newer, less experienced civil servants to learn from more experienced workers. ESP participants are generally part-time and supply technical assistance to the BLM.
